Gunsmoke is a Western television series that aired on CBS from 1955 to 1975. Thad Ewing is a character in the show, portrayed by actor Roger Ewing. Thad was introduced in season 9 as a newly hired assistant to the town's blacksmith, Quint Asper. Thad quickly became a popular character among the show's fans and remained on the show until its conclusion in 1975. Thad was known for his quick wit and sharpshooting abilities, often helping the show's protagonist, Marshal Matt Dillon, in his fight against crime in Dodge City. Roger Ewing retired from acting shortly after the series ended and has since become a professional photographer.
